Very basic if it's used with 3G

I primarily bought this as a back up to the free wi fi that my apt. bldg. has as it goes down occasionally. Since I don't live in a 4G area I'm unable to use that function but it does allow me on 3G to visit a few websites and read e-mail but there's no way I would ever watch a youtube video - it just wouldn't work on this device. It also begins to get slower after it heats up which is after about 30 minutes. I did a speedtest on it when I first plugged it in. I got about .5 mb yes that is right .5 mb kind of like my first broadband speed in early 2000.
Like I said before I haven't used this in 4G but I have a VM phone that I have used in a 4G area and my phone browser was really flying so keep that in mind - that it could do an exceptional job in 4G.
Pros: easy set up and use, 4g
Cons: slow 3g, slows when heats up

This product works very well as long as you don't need to do any downloading. In my experience, it's only about a quarter as slow as "normal" downloading times. So for example, if it takes you an 45mins to complete a download, this product take an hour. That said, I will be upgrading to the Mifi product soon.
I would recommend this to a friend!

A handy road warrior, not a broadband substitute

The short version goes like this: If you don't have 4G coverage, if you run Linux, or if you spend you time downloading copious amounts of videos, then this isn't the device for you. For people who live off a laptop and mooch Wi-Fi wherever they can get it, this device is indispensable.
The flaws are all in the software. When it can't connect over 4G, it will occasionally fail to fallback to 3G - followed by dialogs asking you to manually dial-in and log-on. It would have been nice if drivers for Linux were also included on the dongle: Ubuntu chokes on it, Fedora won't recognize it, and Android flatly ignores it. Finally, it would have been extra nice if it could handle faxing and voicemail (Why not? This is a modem, after all!).
On the whole, it does its job well. You don't need a separate driver disk, the power consumption is reasonable, and there's nothing more that you need to put in a bag other than the device itself. It's not a substitute for hardwired broadband, but it's just enough for an e-mail client, a couple of open websites, instant messaging, SSH sessions, and OS updating, all while on the road.
Pros: road warrior, solid bandwidth on 4g, windows drivers built-in
Cons: no linux driver(s), scant documentation, 3g operation may need manual configuration, not a substitute for hardwired broadband

I had this product only for a day, then the Hurricane Sandy hit. All of a sudden the "Data" towers were down. Support stated almost 2 weeks to get back up. I decided to return product.
But while I did have for a day, it worked fine. The coverage was better then 3g and the speed was much faster. If I need a device for my laptop, this would work fine.
I would recommend this to a friend!
