I think this phone is great. In fact it's hands down the best paylo phone out there (and I've tried others).
It's easy to use, the buttons on the key pad are spaced good enough and it's just a good upgrade if you are using a basic flip phone.

A definite upgrade from the LG Rumor 2. Love how Samsung sets up their phones and makes them easy to use. Have not figured out how to customize buttons but I like it.
Larger screen than I expected, easy to connect to PC and a pretty good camera! Very happy with this phone.
Pros: screen size, pc connection, light weight
Cons: can't customize buttons

I had lost my phone and was in a bind so bought this one. I noticed right off it was poor quality. I even wrote Virgin Mobile and told them it would give the company a bad rap. The second time I tried to use it, didn't work. Pass this one up.

This product, in my opinion is very terrible.
Pros: It looks sleek and stylish. In the times it's NOT malfunctioning it works good, not great, but good.
Cons: It malfunctions all the time, the names that appear in the message section of the phone will randomly turn into the phone numbers, the only way to fix this is to restart the phone, not something I want to restart my phone for. The camera will also freeze up and you will not be able to take pics, restarting the phone fixes this SOMETIMES. I have also noticed that the headphone jack gets messed up and the sound coming out of the headphones will be lower then it should be.
I would not recommend this to a friend. I would actually rather switch back to the slide open phone with the keyboard then have to deal with this phone.
Pros: looks
Cons: malfunctions a lot

Previously you offered unlimited text at $25 with 300 mins. My account was misbilled and I was removed from the plan. The 1500 plan for 30 is a poor replacement.

Not a bad phone and easy to use. flip out keyboard is very handy. it has a nice camera and video. the battery will last a good while with no problems there. I'm not into smart phones because it just cost to much for the service so these are great. I do wish it was touch screen but seriously you see what it has and it gives it to you nicely, well done phone.
Pros: keyboard slide out, east to use, great camera
Cons: i wish it was touch screen

My cell is mostly for touching base with family on arrival times or quick questions, so the 20 cent/min plan has a net cost of about $10 per month. Downside is the unexpected 0.15 per day charge for "extras" if you want to be able to check balance or top up with your phone.
Pros: economy

Recently got the kyocera in an attempt to overcome some issues with VM that I hope were phone related. It did not help, and in fact my experiences are now worse. The kyocera has a great look, design, and should be a great a phone, but its awful. There is an unacceptable lag when opening the phone to use, or even when trying to key in a number. It has terrible signal strength, antenna, and is stamped on the back as 3g, but is absurdly slow. Also poor construction as the interior screen cracked by the hinge on the second day. It is the only flip offered so one would think virgin would offer a good phone, but this one is not. I have been a customer with virgin for many years and until the last year or so never had any real issues. But lately things have not been good. Messages are constantly being recorded as dead air, text messages sometimes take days to come in. This kyocera phone issue is simply a continuation of an overall bad experience with virgin over the past year. Hope they get it together because I'm not going to stay much longer.

I wish VM would offer better quality phones. None of the ones offered with these plans are very good quality, including the one I have (the kyocera xtc). Most of the customer reviews give low ratings for all 4 models.
Regarding the payLo plan itself: I've always had good service with very few dropped calls, and quick texting for both send/receive. The value can't be beat, but as I stated above, VM should offer at least one or two better quality phones.
Pros: consistent service good coverage areas
Cons: poor quality phones offered with limited quantity

I'm currently using Virgin Mobile as my backup phone service in the event my primary line with another carroer goes down or is lost. I was considering a land line for backup, but Virgin Mobile was *much* cheaper and quality of calls so far has been excellent... I'd heard so many stories about Sprint, but the Virgin Mobile brand was so compelling (and low cost...) I had to try it. I'm glad I did.

I love the Pay-lo plan especially the $30/month. I get all that I want with this plan, texting, minutes and data. I use the internet just as much as i did with the unlimited plan and I still have 10 mb left at the end of each month. The only thing is about this plan is that I wish it was on the smart phones. I think As a customer I should be able to choose whatever phone with whatever plan I choose. I want the smart phone but I also want to only pay $30/month with it. Virgin mobile should change their plans so that Many other customers and myself can choose to pay an amount that fits us as well as the phone!!
Cons: needs to be on smart phones as well

i wish they would allow a virgin mobile rumor touch or add some addition models with touch besides the 4 non touch phones avail now! however the minutes/text/data bundle is the best bang for the buck below $40 at $30 its practically unlimited unless u are a heavy user of data and severely overusing text u cant beat it!
Pros: bulk minutes/texts
Cons: lack of any touch phones

If you mostly need voice and occasional texting, this is an incredible value. Under $15 for the phone with 1500 anytime voice minutes PLUS 1500 text messages PLUS availability to look up things on the internet (albeit a little clunky..) for $30 a month? If you don't need whistles and bells, this package is the bomb! Saving me a boatload of money.
Pros: excellent value.

I am the person who doesn't use cell phone very much. I just need to carry it on the road in case the emergency. The plan saves money. But recently, I bought a paylo phone, I am quite disappointed. The phone shuts off periodically and can't be rebooted. I had to remove the battery and plug in the power to restart. That's not good.

Virgin is best inexpensive cell service you can get.
I am saving $75 / month after making the switch from Verizon to Virgin Mobile.
If you follow this recommendation you can maximize usage and save $$$$ money using the cheapest "Beyond Talk Plan" for $35/ month. Combining a smart phone with Google Voice and Magic Jack or Skype when at home or using a Wi-Fi connection will allow you to extend your talk time beyond the plan maximums.
1. Buy a Virgin Mobile smart phone, BUT DO NOT PORT YOU OLD PHONE NUMBER UNTILL YOU READ STEP 2. I recommend the Optimus V, just pay the money for a smart phone it will save you money in the long run.
2. Set up a Google Voice account (if you want you can port your old phone number to the Google Voice-optional.) Watch the easy tutorials on Ggl Voice to set up messaging and forwarding calls to your new phone.
3. Get the Beyond Talk Plan for $ 35/month. It's unlimited text and unlimited internet is awesome! It's limitations can be overcome easily by following the next steps. The limitions are the plan has only 300 minutes/ month but this can be mitigated by following step 4.
4. Route all your incoming calls through Google Voice so when you are home or at work the calls go to your Magic Jack / Skype or Work numbers so you are not using up your 300 plan minutes. Using Wi-Fi you can now expanded you minutes from 300 to virtually unlimited.
5. Download the free app called "Quick Settings" so you can toogle easily between 3G use and Wi-Fi . This will allow you to use Wi-Fi so you can make Skype calls while near a hotspot. This also has the benfit of not being labled a Heavy User and get your 3G slowed down (throttled) after 2.5 Gb of data. Anytime you download apps/music/books or stream music (Pandora) at home connect to Wi-Fi, it's faster anyway.
Now you can enjoy the freedom that is typical of a much more expensive plan/service at a fraction of the cost.
Cheers!!!

I have had this plan since 2007. I had tried contract plan but didn't like it. Cell phone used for emergency calls only. Our home is in a cell phone "dead zone," so playing a monthly fee on contract was a money loss. I am really enjoying the "new" phone I got a year ago, the Kyocera S2100. It replaced the Oyster that I dropped and broke the day before the new phones came in the mail. Great timing.
So long as Virgin offers the 20.00/every 90 day Top Up Plan, I will continue to use this service.
In fact, a friend has changed her entire family to this plan after her daughter racked-up 800.00 in one month. She told her daughter if she wants to talk more, she'll have to get top-ups herself.
Pros: easy and cheap
